Choosing an Orthodontist

Orthodontics is an investment in the future for both children and adults. The improvements in one's smile can last a lifetime with benefits related to improved self esteem which can lead to better relationships with others, improve personal performance and teacher acceptance, improve job opportunities and assure a healthy, more functional, longlasting dentition.

When you visit our office, these are the questions you should ask yourself:

1) Does Dr. Rider's approach to orthodontic treatment appeal to you?

2) Do you feel comfortable in his office?

3) Do you trust that your child (or you) will receive the best possible care?

4) Would you feel comfortable referring your friends to Dr. Rider for care?

5) Will you receive high value for your investment?

If you cannot answer YES to all these questions, please let us know how we can best improve our services so you can answer YES to all questions.

Orthodontic treatment requires a serious commitment of time and money in order to enjoy the benefits. Unlike most other investments, orthodontic treatment provides benefits that continue to accrue in value for years to come.

Financial Policy

We want to be able to tailor our financial programs to best meet your needs while maintaining good business practice. If you would like a payment program that requires minimal outlay initially with an extended payment plan, we can offer you the OFP Plan (Orthodontic Fee Plan), an outside lender (like your bank) that charges a fee for service. If you prefer to pay cash up front, we offer a 5% bookkeeping allowance or you may select our standard office fee plan of 30% initially, the balance payable over 18 months at no interest during that period. Beyond 18 months, there is a small interest charge similar to the OFP Plan for the balance. Decide which plan seems to work best for you and discuss your preferences with our Office Manager.

Insurance

Insurance coverage for medically necessary treatment is not a birthright. Health insurance coverage is a very nebulous business. Having a health problem does not necessarily mean your insurance carrier (HMO, etc.) will cover the necessary treatment.

If money is more important than health and you are seeking treatment only because you believe your care will be covered by insurance, you will most likely be disappointed. Even though we will do everything possible to assist you, your insurance carrier (HMO, etc.) may decline coverage. Therefore, if you are not willing to pay for your own treatment, if necessary, you should not seek care.

Orthodontic Insurance

We do not accept insurance assignment as a general rule but prefer to assist you in maximizing your insurance benefits. Every insurance company, HMO and PPO has certain rules they use to manage their payment schedule program. We will be happy to assist you in understanding and maximizing your insurance benefits.

We believe knowing upfront about our financial policy will best assist you in determining how best to meet your financial obligations.
